Troop 11 - Two Night Overnight - Block Island Oct 11^{th, 12th,} 13^th ,2003

• Meet SAT Oct 11th, 5:45 AM at North Mianus Parking Lot on Old Orchard (back of school near GYM)
• Leave 6AM sharp – You need to catch the 9AM Ferry at Pt Judith
• Ferry Schedule for all Three days is:
• Point Judith to Block Island: 9am, 11am, 1pm, 3pm, 5pm, 7pm
• Block Island to Point Judith: 8:15am, 11am, 1pm, 3pm, 5pm, 7pm
• Arrive Pt Judith, Park Cars, Pick Up Tickets, Board Ferry for 9AM Departure; Note: Ferry ride is approx 1 hr to Block Island

· Directions to the Point Judith Ferry Dock

o From 95N take Exit 92;

o Turn right onto Rte. 2;

o Turn right on Rte. 78;

o At end of Rte 78 turn left onto Rte.1.

o Take "Galilee/Pt. Judith" exit on Rte. 1 (sign will say BI Ferry).

o Turn right off exit and then right onto Rte 108.

o Right hand exit after about 3 miles for Block Island Ferry.

• Return: Block Island to Pt Judith Monday Oct 13^th
• Monday Ferry Schedule: 8:15am,11am,1pm, 3pm,5pm,7pm
• Costs: :Ferry Round Trip $16.45, Bikes are additional $4.50
• Pack:
• Backpacks – Typical cloths for an overnight
• Tents – Acquire tent at Thursday Meeting split tent with sleeping partner
• Canteen – plate, silverware utensils, cup
• Food & Activities Schedule - Bicycles, fishing poles and other recreational equipment can be brought.
• Family Style Camping - Siblings and Parents welcome, supply own tent and food
• Scouts; bring your own food or team up with other scouts and buy food together.

• SAT AM – Have Breakfast at home and bring any snack for Ferry Ride
• SAT Lunch – Bring Bag Lunch, Sandwich, Juice, Snack
• SAT PM Dinner– Troop11 will have a grill (either charcoal or propane), so plan your dinner accordingly (meats, vegetables, fruit, drink)
• SUN AM Breakfast – Breakfast can be oatmeal, cereal, eggs etc. You can use your canteen frying pan/plate to cook eggs, sausage etc, Troop 11 will be heating water for cooking, oatmeal etc.
• SUN PM – Dinner– Troop11 will have a grill (either charcoal or propane), so plan your dinner accordingly (meats, vegetables, fruit, drink)
• MON AM – Breakfast can be oatmeal, cereal, eggs etc. You can use your canteen frying pan/plate to cook eggs, sausage etc, Troop 11 will be heating water for cooking, oatmeal etc.
• Departure will be after Breakfast, it will be up to individual drivers if they will be stopping on the ride home or spending any additional time on Bicycles while at Block Island. You may want to bring some money (e.g. $10) for any snacks, food, drinks on the Ferry or ride home.
• Bicycle Option: We will be making some arrangements with drivers to bring your bicycles, for a cycling adventure. More info on this at our scout meetings
• One Day Camping Option - depending on driver, arrangements can be made to spend either Sat or Sun Night on Block Island. If you leave early, check ferry schedules at the following link. If arriving a day late, also check Ferry schedules (http://www.blockislandferry.com - we'll leave from Pt Judith) and keep track leaders cell phone numbers. Directions to camp site below.  

BLOCK ISLAND

• Camping area: Sandsland Site
• Camping Office: closed for the weekend.. so in emergency - 911
• Ranger at another area on Block Island (just in case) 401-783-9843
• Note: No propane on Ferry – But Charcoal allowed and you can get Propane in town.

Directions From Ferry to Campsite: (about 9/10ths Mile)

• Exit Ferry and go directly to Water Street and make right;
• Take 1^st left onto Chapel and continue to end;
• Take left onto Old Town Road, continue over hill, past town hall;
• Next left onto Connecticut Ave;
• Sandsland Camping area at end of CT Ave.
